The Fight For Privacy

The FBI wants to win the court of public opinion

Rene Ritchie makes some excellent points in this video, but the takeaways for me, were the following:

  1. Building a version of iOS to allow some type of back entrance for law enforcement would makes things less secure for everyone.
  2. Just because you have “nothing to hide” doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be fighting for privacy for everyone.
  3. If the Justice Department succeeds with their attempts to villainize privacy and encryption, the future of technology could be very bleak.

I’m watching closely to see how this pans out.
